Its not news that Chinese cars are gradually invading the Nigerian Auto Market; what I’m yet to find out is our perception about them. Just yesterday, on my way back from work, I saw some brand new very good looking Trumpchi GS5 SUV’s driving down through the Apapa Expressway, heading definitely for the dealership. My last recollection about Trumpchi was when BMW sued them to court for copying the X5, a suit which they finally lost because the Chinese government didn’t want to believe the Trumpchi look-alike had anything to do with the BMW X5. Anyway this new Trumpchi had no similarities with any SUV I knew but my question is this, with what we already known about poor quality of Chinese products in Nigeria, how cool do you feel about driving a Chinese car??
